In a move which has surprised many observers, mFortune casino this week launched its first ever sequel game. While slots which are sequels or part of a series are ten a penny in the online gambling world, the reason this instance is so noteworthy is that mFortune as built its reputation on featuring only unique and exclusive slots, and a sequel is the closest thing to a lack of originality the casino has ever come. The new game – Buster Ghost – is a sequel to the hugely popular Buster Safe. While the original had the titular character breaking into bank vaults to steal gold, Buster Ghost features him tiptoeing around haunted houses trying to trap ghouls.

You have to hand it to InTouch Games (the developer behind all of mFortune, PocketWin and Mr Spin’s exclusive games); they really know how to put a game theme together. Despite being presented in the classic cartoony that the developer’s games all are, the attention to detail is absolutely exquisite, from the grounds of the haunted mansion, to the portraits on the wall – not to mention the super spooky soundtrack that merges creepy piano music with the sounds of screams and ghouls.
This 5 reel, 15 adjustable payline slot allows you to bet between 2p and £95 per line, making it accessible to players with any sized budget. One of the only questionable aspects of the theme are the paying symbols. Alongside the numbers, you have a child’s tricycle, two burgers, and a ghostly policeman (no doubt a call back to the original game which saw Buster evading the law. Although the mini games have a lot more supernatural paraphernalia in them, it would have been nice if it was a bigger feature of the main game.
Your most basic feature in the game is the wilds – they function simply as wilds function in every game, substituting for every symbol other than the jackpot scatters. Then, of course, like any half-decent InTouch game, there’s a good chance you’re going to be spending much of your time in free spin mode. For free spins you’re looking for the green ghost symbol. Three ghosts land you 5 free spins at 10x multiplier, 4 ghosts get you 7 free spins at 30x multiplier, and 5 ghosts will get you 9 free spins at 100x multiplier.
There’s also a progressive jackpot to look out for. Despite Buster Ghost only coming out this week, it’s already got a progressive jackpot of well over £2,000. The jackpot symbols are armour heads, and you want to see 5 of them in a single spin to land the jackpot.
There’s not a whole lot to be said about this game’s performance, other than – just like all InTouch Games slots – it functions beautifully on any mobile device’s screen. This slot game was made for mobile, and the fact you have to download it to play means there’s never any issues with lagging as it loads, and the graphics are always sharp and clear. As long as you have an OK internet connection, you’re going to have absolutely no problems playing and enjoying Buster Ghost.

Other than the outstandingly original theme, the most obvious unique features of Buster Ghost (as with all other mFortune games) are the mini-games which launch when you hit two or more of the symbols associated with them. Each of the games is a way to score multipliers on your winnings from the previous spin, and they are:
Psychic Shock – pick two cards, if they match you win and move up to the next multiplier, if they don’t match you get a psychic shock and pick two more. The highest possible multiplier depends on the number of symbols which triggered the round – 2 symbols only allows 25x while 5 symbols allows up to 150x
Possession Session – pick an object and scan it for ghosts, if the object is clear you get to keep playing and move up a multiplier level, but if there is a ghost you lose and get the multiplier you’re currently on. Again, the number of symbols triggering the mini game decides the maximum multiplier
Scare Stairs – spin the reel to move Buster one step down the stairs. Each safe step awards a portrait prize and a higher multiplier, while spinning a ghoul logo will end the game on the current multiplier. The number of symbols triggering the game decide the highest multiplier up to a possible 960x your winnings!
How does the sequel live up to what came before? In our opinion the rarest thing has occurred; the sequel is actually better than the original. Buster Safe was a lot of fun, but its theme was a little uninspiring, and predictable, with the ‘bank robber’ concept having been employed by many slots in the past. Now, we’re not saying that we’ve never seen a ghost themed slot before, but never one that has such an original take on the concept, and somehow manages to bring Henry Hoovers into the frame. Buster Ghost is a great slot which definitely deserves some of your attention.
