King of Slots features a classic three by five reel layout with 25 paylines available. The theme itself is very reminiscent of an old-school fruit machine including the retro symbols found on the game screen: ten, jack, queen, king, ace, melon, lemon, cherry and the eponymous king’s crown.
The minimum stake begins at 1p, with maximum stakes available up to £1. Players can also set stakes at values of 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p or 50p, providing plenty of options as to how much can be gambled. Players can win up to a staggering £750,000 or 3,000 times their original bet, which makes this game a potentially lucrative endeavour.
Winning combinations are formed by identical symbols on a win line from left to the right. The theoretical return to player is 97%, which when compared to other slots games is a very decent score. If you hit a winning pay-line, or three or more Scatter symbols, the Sticky Win feature begins, and the rest of the reels re-spin for more of the same winning symbol.
King of Slots features a variety of special features that make this slot game stand out from the pack. These include Wild Symbols, Sticky Wins, Scatter Symbols, Free Spins and a Multiplier. Let’s take a more in-depth look at them:
- Scatter Symbols: When collecting five or more scatter symbols across all reels, the player will be awarded five free spins. But these aren’t just any old free spins, this mode means all winnings are tripled!
- Sticky Wins: In both the base game and the free spins mode, winning combinations are held on the reels, whilst the others continue spinning for additional, bigger wins. When you don’t hit any more winning symbols the re-spin feature stops. The player will gain ten free spins with the Sticky Wins feature and all wins are tripled by the 3x multiplier.
- Wild Symbols: Available in both normal rounds as well as in Win line re-spins, Wild symbols, aka the blue gemstone, can randomly appear on any of the reels. Wild symbols will substitute for all other symbols, except for Scatter symbols, which will then form the highest paying win line combinations.
King of Slots performs incredibly well on desktop, mobile and tablet, providing three ways to play this exciting game. Net Ent games are always well optimized for use across devices and King of Slots is no different. On mobile, the game is quick to load, responsive and full of high quality graphics. Net Ent are known for producing some of the most beautiful video slots around, so it’s no surprise that the visuals are strikingly colourful. The funky lounge music may be an acquired taste but can always be muted if it gets a bit much.
The unique features of King of Slots are the aforementioned features themselves. Scatter Symbols, Sticky Wins and Wild Symbols all enhance the fun of the game, while free spins and the 3x multiplier add a little extra spice.
This being said, King of Slots is essentially just a remake of the popular Jack Hammer slot that was released a few years ago. We do like that Net Ent have returned to the classic fruit-machine theme although, compared to some of Net Ent’s more recent ventures, King of Slots could be seen as lacking a more imaginative theme and narrative.
The Sticky Wins feature is apparently Net Ent’s go-to favourite now, probably due to the amazing success of Stickers. Of course, there’s no complaining here though, as it means you’re in with the chance of ending up with a screen full of the same symbol and consequently, 50 to 100 times your bet!
King of Slots isn’t a revolutionary, game-changing video slot. But what it is is immense fun! Bringing old school fruity symbols and mixing them up with a range of modern features such as the Scatter Symbols and Sticky Wins is a fantastic idea. The £750,000 potential maximum win is a huge selling point that is sure to tempt in casual and more seasoned gamers alike.
