Saving Jane is a 5 reel slot, with 15 paylines. How many paylines you wish to play is up to you, and this can be adjusted below the reels. Bets start at as little as 2p (playing with 1 payline) and reach as high as £300 per spin (£20 on all 15 paylines). The slot is a take on the Tarzan story, with the Saving Jane title an obvious clue to who the main characters are. The reels, therefore, are decked out with jungle symbols and animal prints.
As with the majority of PocketWin slots, Saving Jane features a progressive jackpot, which starts out at £2,000. We know, however, that these slots gain popularity fast, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that jackpot soared after the game is released.
The slot also offers players the option of spinning for them, using the auto-spin feature. This means you can sit back and enjoy the action for up to 99 spins at a time. You can also set the game to stop auto-spinning when you drop below or surpass a certain amount. So, for example, if you set your upper limit at £200, the game will stop the auto-spin feature if single win exceeds this amount.
Similarly, you can decide to stop this feature if your balance falls below a certain amount too. This is great as it means you can control how much you’re willing to spend on the game without even having to pay too much attention.
The game’s symbols feature Tarzan, Jane and their gorilla sidekick, as well as a few number tiles. However the biggest wins come from the venus flytrap, the elephant and the progressive jackpot symbols. Line up five purple elephants and you’ll recieve 500x your wager, whereas five venus flytraps also offer a respectable 300x your wager too. To get your hands on the progressive jackpot you need to line up 5 jackpot symbols, which feature Tarzan himself and an explosion of gold coins.
Within the game, there’s also multiplier wilds and scatter icons. The wilds are symbolised by a cheetah and they will replace any other symbol in the game. Five wilds in a winning payline offers a huge 2000x multiplier, and any combination of 5 jackpot and wild symbols also offers a 300x payout.
The scatter symbols are your chance to gain some free spins and these are the drums symbols. They offer 5, 7, or 9 free spins, dependent on how many symbols appear on the reels. The free spins will be given using the last bet amount and number of paylines played. You are not able to change this amount once the free spin round starts.
Like their other successful slots, PocketWin have granted Saving Jane two mini game features. This not only adds excitement to the game, but it can be particularly lucrative for players too.
The first mini game, Witch Doctor, is a simple ‘pick-me’ round. The game is triggered when you collect 2 or more ‘witch doctor’ symbols on any payline and these are illustrated with the three stone tile. Simply pick a stone and the witch doctor will perform his magic to grant you a multiplier or free spins.
The amounts on offer are dependent on how many symbols are collected on the main game reels, but the game offers anything fro a 5x multiplier all the way up to a 100x payout.
The second mini game, King of Swing, is more like the PocketWin mini games we’ve come to know and love. The game offers players a chance of progressing through what is basically a game of snakes and ladders.
Each time you spin, Tarzan will jump from vine to vine collecting multipliers on his way. The aim is to reach Jane at the end of the sequence, which offers the biggest multiplier, however you must be careful to not land on any of the traps set out for Tarzan on his way.
The soundtrack to Saving Jane is one of the best we’ve heard, with bongo drums and animal noises carrying you through the game. The fanfare of a big win is also a nice touch, with cascading coins and encouraging phrases. The graphics are smooth and well designed however we’re not entirely convinced about the overall look of the game.
As PocketWin games are designed for mobile players, we’re a bit uncertain as to why they’ve decided to pack so much in when they’re aware it will be played on the smaller screen. The reels are busy enough with their detailed symbols, so the extra animated background graphics seem unnecessary and a little distracting.
Play On Any Device, Anywhere!
As we know PocketWin slots are designed to be played on mobile, but the good news is that all types of smartphone users will be able to play.
For Android users you can download the game using the link on PocketWin’s website, whilst iOS players will be able to find the game in the Apple App Store.
Like their other games, Saving Jane is a relatively small app, meaning it won’t eat away at your phone’s memory. PocketWin always do well at creating inclusive games and the small size of this slot means that even those using older phones will be able to play the game in it’s full resolution and quality.
Furthermore, once you’ve downloaded Saving Jane you can enjoy the slot offline too! Perfect for those on-the-go players that might experience patchy WiFi or 3G.
On the surface, we’re a bit put off Saving Jane. We’re not huge fans of the graphics and, as we’ve seen PocketWin produce much more aesthetically please slots, we’re a little disappointed.
However, when it comes to playing – it’s really what’s under the hood that counts, and Saving Jane ticks all the boxes. We love the mini games, the progressive jackpots and those multiplier wilds. That’s not even to mention the great RTP and those adjustable wager sizes, which make it the perfect game to try for any sort of player.
