Cats, in space, – what’s not to love? Whilst mFortune have clearly found what is probably the most niche game theme around, we have to say Space Katz is definitely going to prove popular. It’s packed with all the mFortune features we know and love; bonus rounds, mini games, great graphics and there’s even a jackpot up for grabs too. If we were keen on a really bad pun we’d say this slot could be purr-fection, but we wouldn’t go there, would we?

Space Katz is a 5 reel slot, with 20 paylines, making it bigger than some of mFortune’s recent slots. The game is packed with features, bonus rounds and, whilst the theme might sound strange at first, great fun. Both wager sizes and paylines can be adjusted below the reels, meaning you can pick how big or small you want to play. The minimum wager starts at 2p, playing with only one payline, and rises to a huge £400, with £20 on all 20 paylines.
Players can also choose to use the autospin feature. This is also located below the reels and allows players to sit back and relax whilst the game plays automatically on their behalf. You can set the autospin to play between 10 and 99 spins on your behalf, and you can also set the autospin to stop when your balance exceeds or falls below set amounts. This is useful as it notifies you when you could be close to spending more than desired, or if you’ve just made a big win then you’ve got the chance to evaluate if it’s time to cash out.
The symbols in the game are, well, space ‘katz’. Yep, correct, little feline friends in astronaut suits. Don’t ask us how mFortune came up with this idea, but of course some are very cute! The cats offer anything between 15x and 250x, and the big wins come from lining up 5 in a row. The showstopper wins, however, come from non-cat symbols, including two presumably bad guys that share an uncanny resemblance to Pinky and the Brain.
These offer huge multipliers up to 550x, yet nothing can beat collecting 5 of the rocket symbols. This wins you the slot’s progressive jackpot, which, like all mFortune slots, starts out at £2,000 but will surely grow exponentially as the game gathers traction.
Space Katz also offers wild and scatter symbols. The wilds in the game are illustrated by a space station and will substitute all other symbols apart from the jackpot rockets. 5 wilds in a row will reward you with a huge 2000x multiplier, but even creating a combination of 5 symbols using the wilds and the jackpots will see you come away with a handsome 300x.
The scatter symbols in the game offer players free spins, and are illustrated accordingly. These symbols can be in any position on any active payline and you’ll activate the free spins by finding 3 or more on your reels. The more symbols the more free spins rewarded with 3, 4 and 5 symbols rewarding 5, 7, and 9 free turns respectively.
mFortune are sticking to tried and tested mini-games in this slot it seems, however that doesn’t mean Space Katz doesn’t offer some unique twists too. There’s two bonus rounds to activate, with the first being Gamble Galaxy.
Gamble Galaxy is, as the title suggests, a gamble feature. It works on the basis of a sort of roulette wheel, offering certain multipliers dependent on where the arrow lands. You can choose between playing for a multiplier of 1.5x, or going bigger all the way up to 12x. As you increase the multiplier however, the ‘win’ sections of your wheel also decrease in size, giving you lower odds on actually hitting the target.
Perhaps what’s most interesting about Gamble Galaxy is the fact that you don’t need to collect any special symbols to access the game. Simply win at least one payline in the main reels and you can choose to gamble it straightaway. The gamble settings are below the reels, but do remember to set these up before playing, as once you start spinning you’re committing to them.
You can choose between gambling all wins, no wins, or wins that are above certain amounts. This gives you a level of control and allows you to access the game as regularly or irregularly as you’d like.
Space Katz second mini-game, Space Ball, is a little more exclusive. To activate the space ball game you must collect 2 or more balls of yarn. The more symbols collected in the main reels, the higher the multipliers in the mini game.
The aim of the game is to move as far along the rope as you can, collecting bigger multipliers as you go along. You’ll never lose what multipliers you have collected on your way, but be careful not to land where the rope comes undone as this is game over for you. We’ve seen rounds like this throughout mFortune’s slots, and whilst it’s nothing too original, that isn’t to say it’s not great fun.
The graphics of the game can take a little while to get used to, but believe us they do grow on you. Perhaps the most obvious point is the way the symbols disperse and regroup, rather than actually spinning like traditional reels. We like this as it adds to the space theme, and who doesn’t want to see kittens in anti-gravity?
The music however, is very mute-able. There’s a sort of Star Wars march song and some space noises but after a while these get very annoying. Plus, for a game called Space Katz we thought we’d at least get some cute meows, however the noises the cats do make sound like they’re in a terrible distress! The cascading stars on a ‘galactic win’ are nice however, and make a change from the showers of gold coins we’re used to seeing.
The good news is that like all mFortune games, Space Katz is available for both iOS and Android devices. You can log in to the App store or follow their direct SMS link and the game is so small you needn’t worry about memory space. It’s also quick to load and responsive, and you can even play offline!
£5 No Deposit Bonus!
mFortune are still giving away a free £5 no deposit bonus! The bonus, which has been around for years, is one we particularly love as it means you can try out Space Katz right now without any commitment.
Want the great news? This bonus isn’t tied to ANY wagering requirements, meaning you’ll be able to keep what you win straight away. You’ll receive the bonus upon registration, so if this slot has caught your attention, why not head over and give it a go?
Space Katz is a great new slot and it’s certainly left us with a smile on our faces. The theme is, of course, very quirky but we do like mFortune’s ability to branch out from the normal tired slots we’re used to seeing.
The graphics of the game are great and those fun mini-games make it exciting. The bonus rounds come regularly so there’s plenty of chances to win more than you bargained for, and the gamble feature goes a long way to doing this too. We never thought we’d say this, but we’re completely sold on feline astronauts!
