Starmania has ten paylines. Don’t be quick to judge the scarcity of paylines though, as Star Mania pays from both ways – left and right! This is unlike most other slot games in the market today, which only pay from one direction. This configuration doubles your chances of scoring winning paylines!
Starmania suits casual players quite nicely, as they accept wagers from 10p to £20. The number of paylines are not configurable and you must play with all 10 paylines for each spin.

The features of Starmania are standard fare. There are stacked wilds, free spins and a gamble button. If you’ve been playing slots for a month or so, you would have come across these features many times in your slot-playing career. Nevertheless, let me explain them to you.
Stacked wild symbols are wild symbols that occur in groups on each reel. Like regular wild symbols, these guys substitute other symbols to complete paylines. Developers are employing stacked wilds more often to entice players with the increased chances of winning.
When three or more scatter symbols appear on your reels, in any position, you’ll be rewarded with 10 free spins. The free spins round also comes with an extra smattering of wild symbols. In my experience, free spins are rather hard to come by, so don’t count on them too much.
The gamble feature would be the most exciting element of Starmania. After every winning combination, you may choose to gamble your winnings over a game of coin toss. If you choose to participate, you’ll first declare your choice of either black or red. The software then proceeds to select a card from the virtual deck. If the card matches the colour of your choice, you’ll double your winnings from the slot game. If it does not match, you’ll walk away with nothing. Nothing like a little risk to spice up your life.
I found the game pretty slow-paced. This is partly due to the game software – it took terribly long to load on both my phone and laptop, especially since Starmania is not a very sophisticated slot. It is strange that other slot developers manage to pack much more features and graphics into smaller file sizes, but not NextGen.
Secondly, the graphics and animations in Starmania feels lackluster. The stars don’t sparkle quite enough, the winning symbols rotate slowly and the music isn’t inspiring; all of this culminates in a rather monotonous gaming experience. Now, compare this to the legendary Starburst game and its dazzling explosions.

Starmania lacks razzle-dazzle
Any game titled “Starmania” is a promising proposition. After all, all that I ask for as a slot player is the pleasure of losing myself momentarily in a game. It is as simple as flashing bright lights in my face and serving up a healthy dose of sparkle, like any retro Vegas slot machine. How disappointed I was when Starmania did not deliver.
In any other slot game, coming across the Wild feature will start inducing adrenaline into your arteries, but Starmania does not offer anything close to that feeling. Somehow, it feels really… dull.
I left the game feeling disappointed. NextGen can do much better than this; they have released a fair number of enjoyable games in the past. It wasn’t too long ago when our team was excited about 6 new NextGen games at Chomp Casino. However, Starmania just lacks the visual appeal. Its features are okay, but nothing that differentiates this games from others.
