We would just like to go on record and say that Treasure Ahoy is an absolute joy to play. It’s so much fun that we really couldn’t put the game down. Perhaps it’s the combination of easy wins and the difficulty of accessing the mini-games that just makes this slot so enjoyable.
There are 15 winlines players can use and they can play from as little as 2p or as high as £10. This is quite high as they maximum amount (with PocketWin slots, anyway) is usually around £5. Not that we’re complaining! You’d still be spinning those wooden reel blocks regardless.

Treasure Ahoy is a 5 x 3 reel slot with 15 active paylines. This is fairly standard for most slots in general and it works. Aside from this, however, there only a couple of main features to the slot including wild, scatter and jackpot symbols. Sadly, there appears to be no free spins.
There is, on the other hand, a mini-game which proves to be Treasure Ahoy’s main feature. This is the Map Bonus Game which allows players to fire the cannon at multiplier symbols on a treasure map. If you hit the captains wheel, you get to go further onto the mermaid mini-game and spin it to increase your win further. Although infrequent, it’s certainly rewarding to get onto the mini-game.

Treasure Ahoy works only on mobile and performs exceptionally well on it. Although this is PocketWin’s main selling point, the fact most of its games can only be played on mobile is both a distinct advantage and a bit of a con. Imagine how awesome it would be to play the game on a 17″ computer screen. Still, there are tablets you can enjoy it on so that’s a bonus.
Aside from this, Treasure Ahoy is very smooth in terms of its graphics and animation. The only glitch we encountered was when we accidentally locked the phone mid-play and, despite the game sound effects and auto-spin still running, the game’s visuals had frozen. We haven’t encountered a problem like this before with PocketWin, however it is likely this was the phone we were working with rather than a fault with the game itself.

We’ve discussed it already but the game’s defining feature, other than being a mobile game, is the bonus mini-game. It’s annoying how rarely it happens (especially considering how easy it is to get a basic win), but we appreciate it all the same. It fits in well with the theme and increases your winnings by a large amount. Its pirate theme is still pretty unique, though. There may be other pirate themed mobile slots out there on the market but this one feels fresh with its cartoon-ish presentation and seamless animation.
We do wish there was something more to this game as it feels like it could have taken the pirate theme further. There could have been several mini-games where the player has to walk the plank and avoid getting eaten by sharks or discover a treasure chest. Alas, the company has to keep download time to a minimum so we understand why it’s not packed full of stuff.
Treasure Ahoy, in conclusion, is a fun game to play and we feel you will not be disappointed. Wins occur often and the mini-games are immensely satisfying once you activate them. There is the downside, however, of there not being many features at all. We understand a mobile game only has so much room for them but one more mini-game wouldn’t go amiss. We’d also wholly appreciate a more desktop-friendly version of the slot but that’s just a nit-pick. Overall, Treasure Ahoy delivers the goods but falls short a little on its theme and features.
