It isn’t often that an Oriental themed slot comes by, but when it does, it’s almost always rather soft and feminine, like the Geisha slot. This time around, its colourful fireworks, coin-spitting dragons and Chinese lanterns that light the screen of your mobile device or indeed your desktop. Treasure Blast is a great new slot from IGT and it offers not only exciting game mechanics and features, but also a maximum win of 40,000 per spin.
Featuring five reels and 40 non-adjustable paylines, all the fireworks and confetti bombs will blast a lot of cash into your bank account, if you play your ‘cards’ right of course. The bets range from just 2p to £40, which is more than flexible and is bound to please even the pickiest of the bettors. The fixed number of paylines means that your Oriental luck is maximised, although it can be slightly annoying that you don’t have total control over the slot.
The game symbols are the small and large rockets, J, Q, K, A, Lion statue, medallion, treasure check and the Emperor, all of which tie quite nicely together and create a truly Asian ambiance. Unfortunately, the return-to-player is 92% is quite low when compared to other slots that offer 96% or even 97%, but at least the 92% is test-proven.
This means that the creators of the slot paid independent reviewers to confirm this number, whilst other software developers can claim their slot yields 96%, but we will never know that for certain. However, it does seem that the wins come rather often and the bonus game rounds accumulate fast, so lets look into the features of Treasure Blast.
The slot does have a lot of fanfare and a fair amount of excitement in terms of its special features. Although there is no bonus game that can be triggered, which is a pity, the main feature here are the free spins. Actually, they aren’t called free spins, but rather “Bonus Games”, and they can be triggered by the rockets that show up on the first reel only.
After ignition (aka after the spin stops), they will shoot across the screen from left to right and award Bonus Games. The small rocket will award one Bonus Game round, but if you are lucky enough to get a big rocket shooting across your screen, it will bring you ten Bonus Game rounds. The game rounds accumulate on the right of your screen and at any given moment (and with any bet) you can choose to trigger them by lighting the rocket.
We think that its much more exciting to accumulate quite a few of the Bonus Game Rounds and play through them all at once – the coin gain will be massive and the Dragon will pop out around the end to shower you with coins too. The authenticity of the slot is maintained by the parchment scroll that drops down, displaying the total coin win of the Bonus rounds.
Although there are no multipliers and no real bonus feature games, there are the Wilds and the stacked Wilds with more wins still. The rockets will turn any Bomb symbols into wilds as they cross the reels, so you know you are getting the most ‘bang’, quite literally, for your buck.
There is a LOT going on on your screen while you play Treasure Blast. It quite literally is a blast of moving graphic elements onscreen. You can choose to have the sound on or off, as with many other slots, but it does add greatly to your gaming experience to hear the dragon whiz into the screen, spewing coins and the bonus game rockets shooting across the reels.
You can have the game screen displayed in either portrait or landscape mode, depending on your device and your device orientation, which isn’t something we see very often. It’s nice to be somewhat in control of which way you want to play and it’s even nicer that the slot is so adaptable.
What’s the deal with IGT?
You might have noticed in the overview table, that we classed this slot as being produced by IGT. Other reviewers in fact put GTECH as the developers of this game, but the reality is that both options are technically correct.
You may or may not have known that GTECH and IGT joined forces not so long ago and became a single iconic gaming brand. Now, it can offer A to Z gaming solutions to casinos worldwide and is rather successful in doing that, as it’s stock prices are doing really well. No wonder such a successful brand is producing even more successful games, Treasure Blast included.
Although we didn’t have huge expectations for this slot, it has totally surpassed what we’d hoped to see. It’s got decent graphics and some cool sound effects, but most importantly, it is very generous with awarding Bonus Game rounds.
It’s infectiously exciting to spin the reels, see the rockets appear and blast their way across the screen, bringing awesome winning potential. We will be returning back to play Treasure Blast again and again.
