On April 22nd, the second installment of the NetEnt Rock trilogy hits, with the release of the Jimi Hendrix slot. Hendrix is certainly a big enough rock icon by himself to compete with the previous appearance from Guns N Roses. But when it comes to his slot, will it be good enough to beat the already stellar previous outing from NetEnt?
We’ve gotten our first taster of the slot from a NetEnt preview. So we’re here to break down all the big reveals from the teaser trailer and see what we can expect in April.
Jimi Hendrix Slot Overview
- 5×3 reel slot with 19 paylines
- Jimi Hendrix soundtrack (feat. Foxy Lady, Crosstown Traffic, Purple Haze)
- Multiple Free Spin modes
- 2 special base game bonus features
Random Base Game Bonus Features
The standout aspect of the Jimi Hendrix slot is by far the number of random base game features that can happen. There’s 2 in total.
The Purple Haze feature is a neat addition where Jimi Hendrix will appear as a single symbol, before slamming out one of his classic riffs. Symbols to the side and below him will then be transformed into Hendrix face symbols, which are the highest value symbols on the slot.
It’s always at least one confirmed line. It’s not going to bring about the highest wins by itself, but it may do well if its combined with other high value symbols.
Red Guitar Sticky Re-spins
The red guitar symbol is much more exciting and high value. Sticky wins are a feature that have appeared in a few other NetEnt slots, with King of Slots being built around the concept.
Whenever you spin a line of red guitar symbols, you’ll then enter red guitar sticky re-spins. Red guitar symbols will remain on the slot and then the reels will spin as normal. Every red guitar symbol you spin will then stay stuck to the slot and the process repeats.
The sticky re-spins only stop when you finally land on a spin without any new red guitar symbols, which becomes less likely as the slot becomes more cluttered. After that, the red guitars are totaled up and then you win big depending on how many you got.
Free Spin Modes
There are several free spins modes available to play. Free spins can take place with 1 of 3 special features which adds an extra layer to your free spins. The free spins mode is started by spinning 3 scatter symbols, which takes you to a mode called Pick and Click.
Pick and Click appears to be the only way to start free spins mode, but there may very well be another that we haven’t seen yet. Pick and Click gives you a selection of speakers. You then click on them to reveal a symbol, with each symbol indicating one of the different additional features you’ll get with your free spins, or a big coin win.
You need 3 of the same symbol to start free spins, which will determine which free spins mode you’ll get. You’ll then get 6 free spins with an additional feature such as…
- Crosstown Traffic
- Purple Haze
- Little Wing
The only 2 modes we’ve seen so far are Crosstown Traffic and Purple Haze. Purple Haze works exactly as it did above, with a Jimi Hendrix symbol transforming adjacent symbols on every spin.
The Crosstown Traffic feature adds in random wild reels that can appear across multiple reels on each of the free spins.
Little Wing is an as of yet unseen feature, but we can assume it’ll go towards giving us bigger wins.
The NetEnt Rocks Tour Continues
There’s still a few things we don’t know about the Jimi Hendrix slot, but for now a lot of our fears have been relieved. NetEnt have managed to differentiate it from the Guns N Roses slot, which was something that had certainly worried us. It makes us much more optimistic about the future of the NetEnt Rocks series.
It’s still a long wait until April 22nd before we get to play the Jimi Hendrix slot. It’s an even longer wait until we get the final slot in the series, the Motorhead slot. But when the Jimi Hendrix slot does arrive, you can find it at premier NetEnt partnered casinos like Reel Island.
