It seems like a rare occurrence that we cover new games releases from Swedish software designers Quickspin these days, but their last efforts of Razortooth and Crystal Queen both received a handsome four-star rating when we reviewed them. Second Strike is described by the Swedes themselves as an innovative twist on the classic fruity mechanics. Lets hope it can live up to the spin.
At a Glance
Second Strike is Quickspin’s first volatile 10-line slot game, which features a 5×3 reel layout set against brilliant pastel neon colours.
Its a pop-art thriller intended to bring a classic fruit machine vibe, with simple but elegant game mechanics, into the modern day.
First glances at the screenshots Quickspin have released suggest that this is a really good looking game. Expect all your classic fruity symbols (melons, grapes, cherries, bells) in vivid cartoon colours, set against an eye-watering background.
Second Strike: Around the edge of the reels are numerous miniature fruity symbols. On any given win on the reels, the second strike feature is activated.
- This sends a marker flying around the symbols around the reels, and if the marker stops on the same symbol that initiated the win several more of that symbol are added for huge wins!
- The number of extra symbols are determined by the length of the line win. Hit 3-of-a-kind and you’ll get six extra symbols, hit 4-of-a-kind and you’ll get eight. If you hit 5-of-a-kind you’ll max out the reels and this will trigger an “epic win” – lame name but good game!
