Welcome to the weekly news roundup! This week we’re taking a look at those on the up and up in the financial markets, including Betfair’s 53% profit increase and Playtech’s aggressive acquisition strategy.
We’ll also take a look at Microgaming’s Terminator 2 Reboot and yet another new game at Spin Genie in the form of Jackpot Joyride! And last, but by no means least, we’ll be casting our gaze over the newest ways to play mobile casino games with Hello Casino’s all-new platform going live and Karamba launching a dedicated UK casino app for its loving fans.
Betfair Profits Booming
Betfair have posted some huge numbers for the financial year ending on April 30th. The Gambling Gargantuan, which offers a gambling experience in almost everything from virtual sports to arcades to bingo, has reported increased profits of 53% from £61.6m to 91.3m. Revenue also increased to a dizzying £476.5m, putting them within arms-reach of the half-billion mark for the next financial year.
Betfair CEO Breon Corcoran said: “The financial year started with the World Cup, which allowed us to engage with many new and existing customers and gain trading momentum.” It remains to be seen as to whether Betfair can build on this sort of growth without a headline sporting event taking place this summer, but with principles like their responsible gambling initiatives in place Droid Slots wish them all the best.
Playtech Raids the Piggy Bank
Gaming technology giant Playtech are hoping to raise £250m in just a few short days, through an accelerated bookbuild, which will leave the company free to pursue other interests in addition to the acquisition of struggling Binary Options trading platform Plus500.
The company have now announced that alongside Plus500 they will be seeking to acquire a midsize B2C broker, which would be brokered through the also recently acquired foreign exchange company TradeFX.
Jackpot Joyride launches at Spin Genie
A superhero has landed at Spin Genie in the form of captain Jackpot! Boasting a theoretical RTP of 97.23%, Jackpot Joyride really is a super addition to the Spin Genie collection. The interface is a unique form of slots game which, rather than seeing you crank the level on a regular reels game, sees Captain Jackpot fly through the sky collecting fruit on the way.
The game includes only one payline, which is great for some and a little simplistic for others, but thats the beauty of an industry so jam-packed with choice. There’s a progressive jackpot up for grabs too which makes this slot super attractive!
Microgaming’s blockbuster Terminator 2 Set for Multi-Player Platform Launch
“I’ll be back…” – Arnold Schwarzenegger/ Microgaming.
Following the huge, award-winning success of Microgaming’s Terminator 2 online slot which was released on earth in summer 2014, the game has now been revamped and reloaded for a tournament Termination.
The game will feature all-new movie clips, a huge soundtrack and as you might expect with a Terminator game a shedload of action-packed features. It goes live on July 1st and Microgaming are celebrating the release with an enormous multiplayer network event with a staggering €100,000 prize pool with the winner set to take home a cool ten grand…
Hello Casino Relaunches with White Hat Gaming
Hello Casino recently underwent something of a facelift, by switching their platform provider and re-opening its digital doors to the public on June 1st with the help of an all-new shopfront from White Hat Gaming. The relaunch means that Hello Casino now plays host to a far greater range of popular slots games from all the industry heavyweights, including NextGen, NetEnt and Thunderkick.
Marc Weinberg, chief marketing officer at White Hat Gaming had this to say about the new partnership:
“Last year, Hello Casino catapulted onto the scene and in a very short time established the sort of brand recognition that is invaluable and rare for any online casino to attain. The brand narrative is one of friendly service and fantastic treatment of its customers, and we intend to build on that reputation.”
Karamba App Launched in UK
If there’s one thing I find a little confusing about the mobile gaming market, its the serious lack of mobile casino apps out there. The vast majority of casinos offering mobile services choose to do so through the web-browser, which is all well and good, but nothing beats getting to grips with a game specifically designed for your handset.
The all-new Karamba casino app is only available for UK players who own iPads or iPhones at this moment in time, but we’re confident they’ll roll the app out across all platforms very soon.
The Karamba casino app is free to download and allows you to play loads of your favourite Netent Touch games in stunning quality, at a faster pace with a lot less buggy re-starts. You can also test out the demo mode on any game to find your favourite without sinking huge chunks of cash into games you don’t like as much. A big move for Karamba!
