RGT Offering Anti Gambling Grants To UK Schools

RGTThe Responsible Gambling Trust (RGT) is offering £580,000 to programs aimed at schools in order to demonstrably reduce the harm done by gambling related activities.

The charity has awarded grants to five education institutions who specialize in protecting vulnerable groups such as young people and the homeless. The RGT hopes these education initiatives will focus their attention on the dangers of gambling to educate secondary school students.

The RGT School Initiative

The RGT, which is funded by donations from the gambling industry, is continuing on from a pilot scheme focused on harm prevention programmes which concluded in March 2015. The programs are also focusing on homeless shelters to prevent gambling problems withteacher other vulnerable groups.

Marc Etches, chief executive of RGT, said the “RGT is keen to promote an integrated and holistic prevention and treatment landscape for those suffering gambling-related harm in Great Britain.”

Future RGT Projects

He added that the RGT is looking to outsource these prevention schemes to organisations in England, Scotland and Wales. Onwards to the future, the RGT is also planning to start gambling harm related projects within both the military and criminal justice system. These initiatives and future plans and will be announced in 2016.

About Harvey

Harvey joined us back in 2015 and has spent his time with us creating our videos, searching out the most interesting news stories and and drafting up helpful guides to aid you in all areas of the gambling world. Whether you're looking for something helpful like a guide to mobile depositing, or something light like a top 5 list of the craziest gambling losses; Harvey will deliver it free of any pointless extra fluff.

Do you know the rules which protect you from nefarious casinos, or where to go if you think they’re being bent or broken? Mobile casinos are governed by tons of regulations – both those which relate to gambling as a whole and those which are specific to egaming – and they dictate everything from where and how a casino can advertise, to how it should be looking after the money you deposit there. In our regulations section, we look at all the laws and rules which casinos should be abiding by and offer you advice on how to keep yourself safe. This means that not only will we tell you about the bodies you can appeal to if you think a casino has treated you unfairly, or acted outside the rules, but also help you learn to spot the indicators that a certain casino may not be the safest place to park your money.
