True to form, Bake Me a Winner features mFortune’s typical arrangement of 5-reel with 15 adjustable paylines. Seeing as players are able to wager as little as 2p per line, total wagers on the slot can vary from 2p, all the way up to a high rolling £1425 per spin. This is part of the secret to mFortune’s success with its (arguably kind of similar) slots; give them mass appeal by making them suitable for any bankroll size.
All the symbols are themed around the bakery process and baked goods – from flour, eggs and a mixer, to gingerbread men and numbers shaped out of cookies and croissants. It has to be said that the theme in this game is stablished incredibly strongly, which of course is a speciality of InTouch Games, but I feel they’ve really pushed the boat out with Bake Me a Winner.
This game is a new mFortune classic, were you really not expecting it to be super heavy on the feature front? There’s of course wilds – which substitute for any symbol other than the mini game symbols or free spins – and landing them in a win line can prove hugely profitable. Creating a line including 2 wilds will multiply your win by 15x, 3 wilds multiply 100x, 4 wilds multiply 500x and 5 wilds multiply a whopping 2000x.
There is also the Gingerbread Man symbol, three or more of which will land you free spins. Three, four or five Gingerbread Men will land you ten, thirty or one hundred free spins respectively. Then of course there are the scatter symbols, but I’ll keep schtum about those until we get onto the special features below.
There’s not much that can be said about the performance of Bake Me a Winner which we haven’t said here on Droid Slots about InTouch games a million times before. As mobile developers go, they are one of the most solid and reliable.
The need to download the game may come as a little annoying to many players (those without a huge amount of memory to spare, or who don’t want to give apps to much access to their data), but it does ensure that the slot always runs perfectly, even on a dodgy internet connection. The graphics may be a little cartooney, but that doesn’t mean they’ve skimped on attention to detail; the game is a pleasure to look at.
mFortune has worked hard to perfect the art of the slot mini game, and when you’re playing on Bake Me a Winner, you’ll have the pleasure of enjoying not just one, but two unique mini games, each as cakey and bakey themed as the slot as a whole.
The first of the bonus rounds I triggered when I tried the slot out for the first time was the Pick-O-Matic mini game. This is triggered by landing three or more of the Mixer symbols at the end of a spin, which will then transport you to a special machine in the depths of the bakery, where you’re asked to select 6 out of a possible 15 ingredients.
You then have 6 spins on a wheel, each of which will reveal one of the 15 ingredients. If the spin matches one of your chosen ingredients, you’ll move up a multiplier spot – multipliers run from 10x to 250x your wager – and at the end of the 6 spins, you’ll receive the highest multiplier you landed on.
The second mini game is the Cake-O-Matic (yup, the names aren’t wildly original, but they’re fun to play nevertheless), basically, this game is a random multiplier generator, where you push a button, receive a tier for a cake (each of which has a multiplier attached relative to how ‘fancy’ the tier is), and repeat three times to reveal a collective multiplier.
Bake Me a Winner is a great slot, but it’s obviously only going to appeal to players who enjoy mFortune’s oeuvre. The game is super reminiscent of existing mFortune games such as Burger Man or more recently from the same developers but over at mFortune’s sister site PocketWin, Come Win With Me.
So, it’s very much an InTouch game, and as such isn’t wildly unique in and of itself, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that InTouch games are unlike most of what you’ll find on the market. If you like their games, you’ll love Bake Me a Winner, but if you’re not a fan of past efforts, then you’re not going to find a whole lot new here to inspire you.
