Play'n'Go Releases New Battle Royal Slot Featuring King Henry
Slot behemoths Play'n'Go have got a few new releases due for next year, but there are plenty of titles to get stuck into before January hits. One of the most recent titles is Battle Royal featuring history's famous head hater King Henry VIII. The title is a pretty clever one too, given the fact that certain battle royale games have become so massively popular in the video game field, so perhaps this is a subtle nod to that genre in a roundabout way.
Presentation and Theme
As you might expect, this title is a right royal knees up. Unless you happen to be one of Henry's six long-suffering wives of course. Ironically, all of them feature in the game, so history buffs will feel right at home.
A new title, the game is polished. The graphics and art style are very nicely realised, with detailed cartoon representations of Henry and his wives. The royal palace backdrop is also well done, giving the whole game a relaxing yet regal atmosphere.
The game has all the features you'd expect too – the pay table and game instructions are easily accessible and there's an autoplay option as well. You can select your stake by clicking the scrolling menu at the bottom of the screen and it's always clear what your bet and balance is as you play.
There's certainly a sense of fun in Battle Royal and it plays up to Henry's infamous reputation. While the game is a pretty traditional five-reel, 20-payline slot, there are some interesting features that set it apart. There's a random mode called The Royal Flush for example, which turns all lower paying symbols into the same one, which can help you get better wins.
If you also get a scatter on the first or last reels, you'll trigger the special free spin mode, which is called, appropriately, Heads Will Roll. In this slightly morbid feature, you have to choose which wife you think will survive Henry's whimsical nature and avoid the guillotine. In the world of video slots though, being beheaded just means being turned into a wild. Although ideally, you'll want to choose the wife that will survive, as this can net you a cash prize.
Overall, this looks like a fun slot with an interesting and entertaining theme. It's available on all devices too, so you can enjoy a few spins on the go if need be. With a potential x5000 winning multiplier on offer, there's something for big win chasers to enjoy as well. That said, it does seem that the multipliers don't trigger that often and it can be pretty tricky choosing a wife that avoids the chopping block, thus finding that elusive cash prize. All in all though, it's certainly worth a look, especially if you're after something fun, or like a sprinkling of history in your gaming.
This is just one of Play'n'Go's new slots available before the end of the year of course, so make sure to check out some other titles like Piggy Bank Deluxe and New Orleans Spin and Win Deluxe for other high-quality gaming experiences.
