Unibet have begun an initiative to improve the security of their service for their customers by introducing the electronic authentication system, known as BankID, to their Unibet and MariaCasino sites. BankID is planned to create a more efficient and secure payment authentication process for their customers.
For the moment, the new system is only being rolled out at Unibet brands that are hosted in Sweden, but depending on the results of the new authentication system, it will be expected to filter into additional territories within the next year.
Unibet Focus On Customer Security With New BankID System
Daniel Gambin, Unibet's head of player safety, said that the key method of keeping players happy is to “supply a safe and secure environment for our customers.” One of the key places that Unibet aims to focus on is their banking facilities, since this is frequently pinpointed as the most important area of concern from customers.
Gambin championed their introduction of the BankID system, by expanding on some of the advantages that the new system brought to their customers' casino experience: “BankID is the most widely used e-id system in Sweden, managed by the major banks. With this system in place our customers will experience a seamless and familiar login process, using the highest security measures the market has to offer.”
For the time being BankID is currently available as a log in option, meaning that players will have to make a choice to sign in, in order to gain the benefits of the service. However, now that the BankID software had been introduced to their Swedish sites, Gambin explained that its “functionality gives us the opportunity to also use it across various customer journeys to further improve the security and user experience.”
The new BankID software was not simply designed for security, but by introducing a standardised way to process and verify payments, BankID gives Unibet customers a user-friendly service, which speeds up the verification process, so their payments will be completed faster and more securely than most of the competition.
The Unibet Security Beta
At present, Unibet is the first online gambling operator to make use of this technology. For now, the service is only appearing in Sweden, since the BankID software is only designed to function with Swedish banks and payment methods.
If the benefits of the service begin to become apparent as backers like Unibet believe they will, then it's likely that we'll start to see similar payment verification services being added to further Unibet markets, using native electronic authentication systems.
