Couple of fun bonus features.
Not very attractive, not so regular wins.

Action Bank is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot. The game features a minimum bet of 20p, and a maximum of £200. These amounts are adjusted to the left hand side of the reels, although unfortunately you cannot change the amount of paylines played. A slot with this range of bet sizes is perfect for all sorts of different players.

Unlike other slot games, Action Bank does not include an autoplay feature. This is a bit disappointing as it means you don't have an option to let the game play out without the constant need to hit 'spin'.

The game features classic slot symbols such as BAR and 7, as well as X's and O's to fit the games design. It must be mentioned however, that the O symbols do not pay at all, which is very annoying as they're probably the most frequent tile you'll see. The biggest wins come from lining up five 7 symbols to achieve a multiplier of 500x.

The main features of the game are the wilds, and the scatter symbols, which activate either free spins or a bonus round. The wilds in the game are represented by the joker (who is definitely a bit creepy), and these simply substitute any symbol in the game to create a winning payline.

The scatters symbols, however are the more interesting part of the game. For every O symbol that appears on the reels, it has the potential to turn into a golden vault. Bare in mind that if this doesn't happen the O remains a losing symbol. To activate either of the 2 bonus rounds, you must line up five golden vault scatters.

The first of the two bonus rounds is The Big Bank Bonus. This is a simple click me bonus game, which kicks off by offering players a choice of 15 vault doors. Simply click to see what's behind the door and collect 3 matching symbols to win big. The prizes range between Sapphire, Diamond and Ruby levels, all offering a substantial multiplier.

The second bonus feature is the free spins round, which offers players anything from 5 to 30 free spins. Unless the bonus game starts at awarding you 30 spins, you also have the option to gamble for more free spins.

For example, if you're rewarded with 10 spins, you can take the 10 or chance it 50/50 to be rewarded with 15 or 5 spins. Throughout the free spins round there's also a 2x multiplier on the first reel, meaning if you can make up a payline using it then your win will be doubled.

To be honest, we're not too impressed by Action Bank. The game is, for lack of a better word, ugly. The grey background may be synonymous with a bank vault, but it's not the kind of graphics that leave anyone feeling like they're about to have a great amount of fun. Plus, the red, green and blue symbols clash and as we've mentioned, that joker wild is the stuff of nightmares. The soundtrack, sadly, is something you're going to want to mute straight away too.

We don't want to sound too harsh, but honestly Barcrest, we don't know what you were really thinking. With so many exciting slots on the market at the moment, we'd be grateful for even a smidgen of celebration or fanfare. Plus, we know you've got it in you as you've produced great slots before, such as Monopoly Once Around Deluxe.

The good news is that Action Bank can be played across all devices and it's, ahem, paired back look means it's quick to load and never slow.

As you can probably tell, we're not sold on Action Bank at all. It falls into a bit of a 'meh' category for us, and whilst some of the bonus features could be lucrative, we're not sure it's ever going to become anyone's favourite casino game.

Slots are constantly progressing and to stand out from the crowd designers should be offering something innovative, or at the very least, entertaining.

We'd probably give this slot a bit more credit if it had an autoplay feature, as at least then we wouldn't have to look at the thing. Sadly it's not for us, but if a basic slot is what you're looking for, the reasonable RTP makes it potentially appealing to some.
