Karaoke Party By Microgaming Video Slot Review
Karaoke Party is the latest release from Microgaming, one of the best slot developers in the industry. August has seen the arrival of three new Microgaming slots and Karaoke Party is among them. Can Karaoke Party manage to stand out among the competition, even its own fellow Microgaming slots, or is it just another release that we won't play beyond the month? We'll take a look at its features, performance and most importantly how fun it is, so you can figure out if it's a game worth your time.
Slot Game Overview:
Karaoke Party is a slot that will be familiar to anyone who's ever played at a mobile casino. The slot comes on a 5x3 reel slot, with nine betlines and a free spins mode.
Nine betlines is actually a reasonably low number for a slot of its type, but with an RTP of around 96.2%, it would seem that the slot manages to make up for its more infrequent wins with larger payouts. These large payouts are possible due to a range of additional multiplier features, which we'll get to later in the review.
Free Spins Bonus Feature
The free spins mode of the slot is triggered by spinning three scatter symbols, which then gives players 15 free spins. The free spins bonus round comes with two additional features which makes it much more appealing than many other free spins rounds.
Firstly, every single win during the free spins round comes with a 3x multiplier. Secondly, free spins are re-triggerable at least once during the bonus, so you can get 30 free spins in total if you manage to spin another set of three scatter symbols.
Karaoke Party manages to weaken its free spins bonus round slightly, as wins during the free spins round are much less frequent than other slots due to the low betline number. Of course, the increased multiplier makes the wins you do land much more rewarding, but it's hard to not feel frustrated during your playtime.
Aside from a free spins mode, Karaoke Party is rather scant when it comes to any additional features. The most notable additional feature is the wild multipliers. Any wild symbols add a 2x multiplier to any winning lines they are involved in.
It's a simple feature, but given that wild symbols are pretty frequent during the base game -- a nice additional boost of cash every time you manage a successful win with them.
Microgaming perfected their slot games many years ago through both their expertise and impressive Quickfire software. That means that straight out of the box, Karaoke Party works perfectly across its desktop, mobile and tablet versions. There's no slowdown or glitches and the simple visuals means it doesn't tax even lower spec devices.
We did experience one issue during our play, where the reels continued spinning for over a minute before coming to a rest. But this issue was with the casino's servers and wasn't attributed to Karaoke Party itself.
Karaoke Party is a tough one for us to judge, but ultimately, we'll have to be harsh. On the face of it, Karaoke Party is an enjoyable and well-made slot. Its theme is original and the bright colours and catchy sound effects make it easy on the eyes and ears.
But at the heart of it, Karaoke Party can't hide behind its new coat of paint. Karaoke Party comes with a free spins round and that's about it. It's light on features and doesn't have the originality that makes it stand out from any of the hundreds of other slots like it that released this year alone, even among other Microgaming creations.
If you want a traditional slot experience, with the chance of some healthy multipliers and a nice look, then Karaoke Party will be a nice game to play some spins. But if you're looking for the next big thing, then Karaoke Party is one to avoid. Either way, you can play it now over at , along with the rest of the mostly excellent Microgaming games library.
